November is the beginning of a very magical time of the year. Everything is quietening down. The light is fairly even and subdued. The time for me to paint is limited in hours but this helps focus in and knuckle down!

An extraordinary and "thin" place this painting became apparent it was Avalon very early on just a couple of months ago... not from direct observation but from landscape memory.

I live up high in Cornwall overlooking Dartmoor in the far distance. Every morning as the sun cracks through the pitch darkness in golden slashes, the Kensey Valley which lies in between Lanson and Dartmoor emerges from the blackness of night with wonderful opaque undulating ribbons of vapour. Very gradually the vapour burns away as the sun rises up and the far Tors of Dartmoor glint like golden threads. I imagine that Glastonbury Tor does the same.
